Truancy

                                                      Truancy in school

what is truancy? Truancy is the action of staying away from school without a good reason; absenteesium

what will happen if this affects you? if you stay away from school for long enough with out school knowing a good enough reason your parents will be fined.

when were fines introduced for truancy? Fines were brought in for this reason in 2013 to punish parents over absences.


In Scotland, if parents don't comply or give a reasonable excuse they can be taken to court and could face up to one month in jail and a fine up to £1,000.

dyslexia


                   how should employers respond to dyslexia? 

what does dyslexia do? Dyslexia is done by someone's brain having trouble processing letters and sounds.

Should " the dentist" be held accountable for killing Cecil the lion?

what does this image show? This image shows that the dentist is stood with Cecil.

where did this hunting happen? The hunting happened in Zimbabwe in Africa

who could this affect? This could affect the dentist for his career having Cecil's life put against him.

why did he kill Cecil? He killed Cecil to eat.

Hot-wiring- to start the engine of a vehicle bypassing the ignition system.
immobiliser- an immobiliser or immobilizer is an electronic security device fitted to an auto mobile that prevents the engine from running unless the correct key (or other token) is present.
this prevents the car from being " hot wired" after entry has been achieved and helping to reduce motor vehicle theft
vulnerable-exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally
lapses- a brief or temporary failure of concentration, memory or judgement

override-use one's authority to reject or cancel
minimal- of a minimum amount, quantity, or degree
expertise- expert skill or knowledge in a particular field

The role of art in society 


1) what is happening? there are poppy's being laid to remember those who died in the war
3) who could take part? anyone from around the world can visit London to see the poppy display
4) why do they plant the poppy's? they plant the poppy's to remember those who died
5) where did this take place? this took place at the tower of London which is in London
6) who created this? Paul cummins and tom piper


More than 5 million people went to see the meaningful piece of art at the tower of London. It was a memorial for any of the public to go and see. it was very emotional for the public to remember the soldiers which died in the war.

1) how much money has been raised by the art exhibition? The exhibition raised 10m
2) what does "noble" mean? noble is being proud or honourable
3) what is the main point of the article? the main point of the article is to explain what happened at the tower of London with the audience going to see the poppy's being laid
4) name 2 effects the art installation had on people- newspapers art critic wrote "war is not noble"

The role of sport in society 

what is happening? The athletes are standing to collect there medals

The Olympics held lots of different sports which all led to success to all the British athletes, however there were alot of obesity athletes which could mean that they don't lead to success like all the others.

1. what did the London Olympics promise to do? The London Olympics promised to inspire more young people to play sport
2. what has happened to the number of young people playing sport since the Olympic games?  16- 25 year olds playing sport regularly has gone down since the games
3. why is this a concern?
4. name 2 positive impacts of the Olympic games- the British cycling, more than two million adults are now riding bikes at least once a week.
5. how many more disabled people are playing sport at least once a week now? 62,000
